“I Have Proven Myself” – Stefanos Tsitsipas Optimistic About Winning Grand Slams

World Number six Stefanos Tsitsipas pulled off the biggest title of his career on London’s O2 Arena at ATP Finals 2019. Even before lifting up the prestigious title, tennis experts labeled him to be one of the most promising talents on the tour.
The Greek lad Tsitsipas came into the limelight in 2018, when as an unseeded player he reached the finals of Rogers Cup. And en route the finals in Canada, he triumphed over four top-ten players including Novak Djokovic.
His Aussie Open 2019 win over two-time defending champion Roger Federer compelled people to say ‘the NextGen of tennis has arrived!’ Also, the match marked the advent of Big Three’s dethroning.

Putting all his achievements together, Tsitsipas believes he’s inching closer towards his Major breakthrough. “People always ask me when I am going to win a Grand Slam title. I feel it is going to come if you wait,” Stefanos Tsitsipas told Tennis Majors.
“You don’t have to ask the same question every single time. The Big Three are doing a great job, staying where they are, and being so committed to what they do. They are difficult to beat, I won’t lie they are difficult to beat. They still play at the same level.”
Tsitstipas’ victory in London has ignited the spirit of winning a Major title. And the Greek gun is optimistic regarding his breakthrough.

“I do feel that I am capable of winning Grand Slams. I have proven myself at the Nitto ATP Finals. And I was the last player standing out of all eight, which for sure meant something, it’s not accidental,” he said.

He commended Big Three’s efforts and their consistency on the tour for more than a decade and a half. Those three men have insanely dominated sport, and some players say, ‘they have robbed all major titles.’ They are always improving, working on their shortcomings, and their experience supports them to outdo the entire tour.

At the Australian Open 2020, Tsitsipas suffered a straight-sets loss to Milos Raonic in the third round. A month later he was successful in defending his crown in Marseille and finalist spot in Dubai.
