“Mentality Would Be Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal” – Hubert Hurkacz Builds His Perfect Player

Number one Polish tennis player on the ATP circuit, Hubert Hurkacz, grew up idolizing Roger Federer. As a child, he tried imitating all his on-court skills. Even to this day, he practices hard to hit the perfect tweener just as the Swiss maestro does.
“My coach Craig here didn’t want me to do this shot. So I was doing a drill here, practicing this shot (tweener) and he would tell me that you’re missing almost all of them,” Hubert Hurkacz told Essentially Sports in an exclusive interview.

While constructing his perfect tennis player he picked Federer’s forehand and volley. Also, he feels the stalwarts of tennis, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, both have phenomenal mental strength.

When it comes to the service, Hurkacz believes big-server John Isner is the best. The American has served 12,266 aces in 675 ATP matches, and he takes the second spot on the list of the highest number of aces in men’s tennis. The premier spot is occupied by Ivo Karlovic.
The Frenchman Gael Monfils is famous for his excellent athleticism and court coverage, and his sliding skills are a highlight of his game. Hurkacz feels Gael is one of the best movers in men’s tennis.

“I’ll go with John‘s serve, Novak’s return, probably Roger’s forehand, and backhand could be Novak’s as well. Footwork would be Gael Monfils, volley Roger as well. Mentality would be Roger, Rafa,” Hubert Hurkacz said.

The 23-year-old Polish tennis player Hurkacz began his 2020 season at ATP Cup. As a consequence, he got to spend some time with his compatriots. Later, he reached the semifinals at ASB Classic, wherein he lost to France’s Benoit Paire. And at Australian Open he lost to John Millman in the second round.
