Nick Kyrgios Trolls Novak Djokovic After His Disqualification From US Open 2020

Considering the year World Number one Novak Djokovic has been having on the tour, the US Open 2020 appeared to be a straightforward victory for him with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer not taking part.

However, in a very unexpected series of events, Djokovic was defaulted for negligently hitting a lineswoman. Aussie tennis player Nick Kyrgios wouldn’t let this opportunity pass away. He trolled Djokovic for his elimination by setting up a poll on Twitter.

In his match against Pablo Carreno Busta, Novak’s frustration and anger were evident. It was clear that the world number one was losing control.

However, The Serb wouldn’t in his wildest dreams have imagined that one of these moments of frustration would result in a ball being hit at the throat of the lineswoman, Aurelie Tourte. Amongst many prominent tennis figures who commented on the incident, one would not be surprised to see Nick Kyrgios with his own set of ideas on the same.

Many might argue that Nick has been at the receiving end for multiple on-court violations and activities. Despite that, his point can’t be ignored.

Novak has already borne the brunt of the fines and ranking point deductions. Unfortunately, it seems like the worst is yet to come.

In his defense, Djokovic had tried to reason his way through after profusely apologizing to the lineswoman. However, courtesy of the Grand Slam rulebook which says “in all cases of default, the decision of the referee in consultation with the Grand Slam chief of supervisors shall be final and unappealable”, Djokovic was almost immediately disqualified.

One thing is for certain – this incident will definitely urge tennis fans and governing bodies alike to think more deeply about conduct as well as the corresponding penalties for violation.
