“The Test Phase is Over” – Alexander Zverev Reveals Coaching Union Decision With David Ferrer

Almost a month ago, world number seven Alexander Zverev announced his coaching ventures with former world number three David Ferrer. Their partnership was in a trial phase. The Sascha-David duo has been practicing together for a few weeks, and now they have collectively decided to continue their league.
After Ivan Lendl’s resignation, Zverev’s father has been guiding him. Zverev and Ivan parted ways last year and their alliance was concluded abruptly. Now, after the latest changes in Team Zverev, both Alexander Zverev Sr. and Ferrer will serve as Sascha’s head-coach.
“The test phase is over. We are together, a couple. We understand each other incredibly well and are now a team. David and my father are both my head coaches now,” Zverev stated after his win over Felix-Auger Aliassime at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown 2.

“My dad doesn’t get any younger either. Both are extremely important in the team,” Zverev added, as quoted by Tennis Magazin.
Ironically, Ferrer played his last professional match against Zverev in the round-of-16 match at Mutua Madrid Open 2019. After his farewell from tennis, Ferrer became the tournament director of the ATP 500 event Barcelona Open in Spain. And now, Ferrer will be taking up the job of a head coach for the first time in his tennis career.
On Saturday, Sascha beat Felix in a thrilling encounter, and both of them are now into the semifinals of UTS 2. On Sunday, Sascha will be playing against France’s Corentin Moutet in the semifinals of UTS 2.
