Her left wrist injury is compelling her to miss professional tennis for the upcoming days. Canada’s Fed Cup captain Heidi El Tabakh mentioned that Genie be will be out of action for at least two or three weeks. The seriousness of her injury will be confirmed after an MRI, an ultrasound and an x-ray.
“Genie hurt her wrist during the last five minutes of practice on Thursday,” El Tabakh explained. “We didn’t know how bad it would be but it was bothering her quite a bit so we made the decision [to bring in Gaby] after today’s warm-up.”
