Tennis Tour Comes Up With An Exhausting Resumption Schedule

After a long wait during these unprecedented times, the tennis tours ATP and WTA tours have announced good news for all the fans. The tours began their suspension in March 2020 amid the coronaries pandemic. And now LIVE action will now be starting on 14 August 2020 with the Citi Open in Washington D.C., USA.
On the ATP Tour, after the Citi Open Western & Southern Open will be played in Flushing Meadows, New York., followed by the US Open which will start on August 31.
During the US Open, simultaneously the clay-court ATP 250 tournament in Kitzbuhel, Austria will kick off on September 8. While on the WTA courts, Istanbul Open will be starting. After the North American hard-court summer events Madrid Open and Rome Masters will take place right before the French Open in Paris.

By holding the prestigious tournaments back-to-back the players will have no time to breathe. It will be taxing for them to participate in all the tournaments.
Men’s tour hasn’t scheduled any tournament after Roland Garros they are to work upon the planning of Asian Swing and Nitto ATP Finals. Whereas on the WTA field, the women will play the entire Asian Swing tournaments. Followed by their year-end tournament in Shenzhen.

The ATP and WTA have been in collaboration with ITF, USTA, and the FFT for revamping this year’s calendar. “Our objective has been to reschedule as many tournaments as possible and salvage as much of the season as we can,” said ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi. “It has been a truly collaborative effort and we hope to add more events to the calendar as the situation evolves.”
Also, WTA’s CEO addressed the reopening of the tennis tour. “Having assessed the global outlook for travel in the latter half of the year, working with our medical experts on providing the safest environment possible, and working through the diverse operational challenges for running events safely in the context of COVID-19, the WTA is pleased to release a calendar for the remainder of the 2020 season,” said WTA Chairman and CEO Steve Simon.
