Two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka hailing from Belarus has been residing in the US for a long time now. The coronavirus pandemic has severely effected the nation with more than 500K infected cases.

Living amidst the fatal disaster, Azarenka is distressed upon learning everything. She will be contributing her bit to help the Miami residents in Florida, USA.

“I am Victoria Azarenka, a professional tennis player, and I’ve competed in several tournaments in South Florida. It breaks my heart to see how COVID-19 is affecting the world, my friends, and family members. It has officially been 82 days since the CDC confirmed the United States’ first case of COVID-19,” she posted.

“The outbreak has changed our lives in several ways, starting with the medical industry and now, as the crisis continues, it has affected 81% of Miami-Dade County small businesses and more than 248,000 families with children on top of the 59% of residents who were struggling to make ends meet.”

The Belarusian tennis player has won Miami Open career twice in her career. She has a lot of good memories attached to the city and now she feels, it’s the time to give back. Azarenka will be auctioning her autographed custom tennis shoes and donating all the money for the welfare of Miami’s residents.

“I would like to help this local community by auctioning off a pair of my autographed custom tennis shoes. The proceeds will go towards United Way of Miami-Dade who has established the Miami Pandemic Response Fund,” she added.

The auction will be starting on April 11, 2020, and will continue until April 25th at 1:59 pm EST.

On the WTA courts, Victoria Azarenka just played one match in 2020, in Monterrey, Mexico and encountered a defeat in the opening round.
