The entire nation of the United States is coming out in throngs and protesting against the death of the 46-year-old black man George Floyd. Moments after the incident took place in Minnesota, the protests have been widespread. And the tennis world is quite vocal about the deadly act. Recently, one of the promising American stars of tennis, Amanda Anisimova sent her message to fellow Americans.

Simultaneously, the 18-year-old Anisimova demanded justices for Floyd’s death and eradication of racial discrimination from the society. “What is going on right now is absolutely insane. I totally standby everyone who is protesting and trying to spread awareness,” she said.

“I am trying to send a message, our system is broken, and racial injustice still exists and that’s crazy. We shouldn’t be living in a world like that. So I thought to send a message and do my part because this is important.”

In 2020, Anisimova reached the semifinals in Auckland and retired from the pre-quarterfinals of Qatar. She was upset in the first round at the Australian Open, and later at Dubai Open. She recently participated in the MyUTR exhibition series in Florida.

Her teenage compatriot Coco Gauff has been equally vocal regarding the turmoil happening in their nation. She also received praise from the legendary tennis player Chris Evert for her stance on racism.

“I believe we have a future leader, role model, and activist at the young age of 16, she is showing up in the fight against racial prejudice. She could champion human rights and still be a champion in tennis. I believe she can be an inspiration and do it all,” Evert addressed Gauff.

The Japanese star Naomi Osaka who is presently staying in California is equally displeased with the racism prevailing in the United States. And the American ace Serena Williams was also devastated upon learning the growing intolerance in her nation.
