“We’re Twins” – Naomi Osaka Associates Herself To ‘Turtle-Like’ Character From Mario

Former World Number one Naomi Osaka was recently in conversation with Tennis Channel’s Confessional Carts. Over there the unconventional side of Osaka was explored and her life beyond smashing the tennis ball. 

The Japanese typhoon was asked, “What character in Mario would you be?” Which referred to a fictional character from the video game Mario.

The hefty hitter from the baseline said, she would like to be the turtle-like powerful character, Browser. “Browser! Because he’s slow and powerful, like me. We’re twins.”

Once she talked about her video gaming interests, and ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ is one of her favorites. And during quarantine amid coronavirus pandemic, Osaka seems to be occupied with indoor-gaming engagements.

Naomi Osaka shares her sporting interests besides tennis

Moving on, she was also asked about other sporting interests besides tennis. Naomi finds ‘diving’ to be a fascinating sport. She was asked, “If you could play an Olympic sport besides tennis, what would it be?

Naomi said, “I really like watching gymnastics, but it seems so difficult and they all seem so fit. Maybe diving?”  Osaka once revealed basketball to her favorite sport besides tennis.

On the professional courts, Naomi Osaka had a successful beginning of the 2020 season. She kicked-off with a 14-match winning streak. It came to end by losing to Karolina Pliskova after facing match points in the semi-finals of Brisbane.

Later, at the Australian Open 2020, she stepped the courts as the defending champion but was dethroned by 15-year-old Coco Gauff in the third round of the tournament. Following that Osaka made her way out from the top-five WTA rankings and presently she is ranked number ten in the world.

Osaka decided not to play any WTA tournaments in February, but she showed for the Fed Cup matches in Spain. But her one-sided 6-0, 6-3 loss to World Number 78 Tormo left her in tears. In that match, she committed a total of 50 unforced errors.
