In the absence of Federer, Nadal went on to win a record 10 title at the Monte Carlo open. In doing so, he became the first man to win the same title ten times. He won the title, defeating Stan Wawrinka, in straight sets, to become the first man in the open era to win 10 majors at the same tournament.
