WTA’s top-ranked Swiss player Belinda Bencic joins the list of tennis professionals for contributing their bit for the bushfires in Australia. She mentioned that she isn’t specialized in hitting aces but she often commits doubles faults. Hence World Number eight Bencic has decided to donate A$200 for each double fault she hits at Adelaide’s event and Australian Open 2020.

The Swiss player also recommended World Number seven Alexander Zverev to join the ‘double fault’ campaign with her. “Will you join me?” Bencic asked Zverev. Sascha played three matches in 2020 (at ATP Cup) and has hit a total of 31 doubles faults till now.

“I’m on my way to beautiful Australia and my heart is crying reading the news every day. It’s devastating to see what is going on with the bushfires and it needs to stop!!! I have already donated but will donate more in my upcoming tournaments in Adelaide and the Australian Open. Although I’m not the best at hitting aces but much better at double faults, I will donate 200$ for each double fault I hit at the next tournaments! Like that, I won’t be angry with myself when I hit one and finally, they will be useful,” Bencic posted.

The top-seed at Shenzhen Open 2020 Belinda Bencic lost her first-round match to Anna Blinkova after committing seven double faults in the match.
