The Japanese tennis typhoon Naomi Osaka played two staggering matches in the new season’s opening tournament. She toppled over Maria Sakkari in her first match after tackling a break deficit in the third set. Then the American breeze Sofia Kenin’s creativity, pace, and shot-making compelled Osaka to take the extra mile.

Osaka on Medvedev

Post her win on Thursday, World Number four Naomi Osaka stated that she finds the Russian machine Danil Medvedev as an ‘interesting’ person.  “He’s (Medvedev) very interesting to me. I’ve never talked to him in real life, but just like the things that I see on the internet about him,” Osaka shared during her presser in Brisbane.

She has never really spoken to Daniil Medvedev in person. As they have ample opportunities to meet each other the reporter suggested Osaka to catch up with him. However, Osaka had a divergent opinion. “Yeah, but I don’t really like to talk to people,” she replied.

During the Thursday’s match at ATP Cup 2020 against Diego Schwartzman, Daniil Medvedev lost his cool during the match. He got multiple code violations for unsportsmanlike conduct and consequently he was given a point penalty.

The Russian team won all their three ties and they are through to the semifinals of ATP Cup 2020.

Naomi Osaka is injury-free

In Brisbane, Naomi Osaka will play her semifinal match against sixth seed Kiki Bertens. In 2019, Osaka concluded her season amid a shoulder injury but on Thursday she was glad her shoulder wasn’t pestering her.
