Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan, on Saturday (January 25), made a u-turn from his own comment. Earlier, the reports said that they gave the hosting rights of the Asia Cup to Bangladesh but he has denied all the reports.
After much discussion, BCB agreed to send the team to Pakistan for a T20I series, one-off ODI and two ICC World Test Championship matches in three phases. On the other hand, the PCB CEO has confirmed that Pakistan will host the upcoming Asia Cup and also threatened BCCI that if India doesn’t take part in the September event, then, they will refuse to visit India for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup.

Wasim was quoted as saying by The Dawn, “It is not the prerogative of the PCB or the ICC to change the host as it was the decision of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). We are currently considering two venues to host the Asia Cup. If India doesn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we would also refuse participation in the 2021 T20 World Cup there.”

“This has been completely taken out of context. Even though we would still want to host the Asia Cup in Pakistan, the Asian Cricket Council needs to decide on what it will do about the matches involving India,” Khan told Sportstar. “It’s absolutely incorrect. What I would like to say is that we are concerned about security issues and also there could be issued in attaining visas. But we are confident that things will ease out over the period of time.”
In 2018, India had hosted the Asia Cup at a neutral venue – UAE. Although it’s not yet decided whether India will take part in the Asia Cup or not. Moreover, Khan said ACC should look into that matter and decide accordingly as well.
