The news sparked an emotional response from the entire tennis fraternity, including the nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova.
The deadly coronavirus has already wreaked havoc on the tennis calendar with no certainty over the future. As a result, Martina Navratilova explained the impact of the current situation on every player as she expressed her disappointment over the cancelation of the oldest Grand Slam tournament.

The Queen of Wimbledon reacts to the cancelation
Navratilova explained that the decision was not unexpected. She figured it out a month ago that the Wimbledon Championships 2020 would have to be suspended. However, she didn’t see how that was doable.
“Tennis is a luxury hopefully we’ll get to watch these amazing players play again. But right now it’s about staying safe, staying healthy and trying to do your part,” Navratilova said in an interview with Tennis Channel.

Tennis Players Express Disappointment as Wimbledon Cancels Championships
“Everybody is in the same boat”: Martina Navratilova
The American explained in detail that the suspension of the tennis tour is tough for every player. Navratilova elucidated that the young, middle-aged and older players will all be affected due to the crisis.
“This is an unending finish line. You don’t know where the finish line is. You don’t know when to start training for what. Again everybody is in the same boat. But for some, it’s more difficult than for others,” she said in an interview with Power Sportz.
According to Martina, the youngsters are missing on improving and a matchup against the higher-ranked players, like Coco Gauff.

“That’s where you make big improvements when you’re that young. The middle players are kind of stuck,” she added.
She also explained that for the older players like Roger Federer and Serena Williams, time is not their friend. So they lost basically this year, this opportunity. Hence this is different situations for different people.

“I can’t imagine if I was still playing. I’m in my thirties and I want to play, to go through this is like, I’m such a goal-oriented person and now you have no goal because you don’t know what’s going to happen,” Navratilova concluded.
Martina is right on target in her explanation as there might be quite an uncertainty among the players. The players don’t know when the next tournament will happen. We hope that the coronavirus subsides soon and the tennis tour resumes.
