Earlier this year, there were numerous rumours surrounding Mercedes and its F1 future. The German giants were reportedly going to meet to discuss their next step for 2021 and beyond.
Following some uncertainty, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff insisted that Mercedes are going nowhere. Initally, some believed that Mercedes may not agree with the Concorde Agreement. However, the Austrian has indicated that the case is the complete opposite.
What also helps Mercedes’ case is that they received big investments at the Brackley factory recently. When speaking to Auto Motor und Sport in an interview, Wolff assured that leaving Formula One was not considered at all.

Mercedes is here to stay
That makes it all but official the works team will stay on the grid as F1 heads into a new era in 2021. The Concorde Agreement, the main reason why Mercedes initially hesitated to stay, is no longer a problem according to Wolff.

For now, the German outfit is training its focus on te 2020 season. Mercedes is raring to go and, so are the drivers, especially with Lewis Hamilton on the verge of equalling Michael Schumacher’s record. The team is also eager to dominate the proceedings and enter the new era as one of the favourites.
Can the outfit extend their period of dominance into the next era, or will we see another team setting the pace from next year onwards? In 2020, they can win their seventh straight double championship, unless the likes of Scuderia Ferrari or Red Bull catch them. The car launches will take place soon, with Ferrari kicking everything off.
