After a lot of speculation, Polish driver Robert Kubica is finally back in Formula One. The Polish driver will be partnering Mercedes junior George Russell in 2019. With Lance Stroll likely headed to Racing Point Force India, it leaves Sergey Sirotkin without a seat in 2019.
A multitude of fans were jubilant to hear that the Pole is back in F1. It truly is a fairytale comeback from his horrific crash in 2011. What an incredible journey the 33-year-old has had. He made his debut in 2006 with the BMW Sauber team and stayed with them for four years. During that tenure, Kubica had an almighty crash in 2007 at the Canadian GP. He was out of action for the next race in the USA, but returned for the French Grand Prix.
In 2010, he moved to Lotus-Renault to partner Russian driver Vitaly Petrov. His best career finish in F1 is 4th in the championship in 2008. He bagged his maiden podium at the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, alongside Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen.

He went podium-less in 2007, but still proved to be a lethal driver on the track. 2008 brought forth a few more podiums and as an added bonus, a maiden win in Canada. It was kind of poetic justice because he had had his major crash just a year earlier. His final podium came in 2010 at the Belgian Grand Prix.
