Two F1 Records Belonging to Kimi Raikkonen That’ll Never be Broken

If there is one way to be immortalised, it will be when records are set. F1 veteran Kimi Raikkonen already has a unique record of being the only F1 driver to win with three different engine specificatations. However, it is transpired that the 40-year old has got hold of even more unbeatable F1 records.
As it turns out Kimi Raikkonen has had the longest gap between Grand Prix wins. The Alfa Romeo driver drove in a 113 races from his last win at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix, to the 2018 US Grand Prix. In addition to that, he also has the longest gap between pole positions, with 129 races in between.
This was between the 2008 French Grand Prix and the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix. Admittedly, he did take two years off from Formula One at the end of the 2009 season and returned for the 2012 season.

However, it is safe to assume that this record will stand the test of time. This isn’t the only record that will be heading Raikkonen’s way though. When the 2020 season concludes, he will overtake Rubens Barrichello to the record of most F1 race starts.
Does Kimi Raikkonen care?
However, being Kimi Raikkonen, he admitted that he was not particularly bothered about setting records. The Finn knows that he is approaching the twilight of his F1 career, and his F1 days are numbered. However, he has still proven that age is just a number and he is still as quick as ever.
For him, he has nothing else to prove, having already won a world championship in 2007. Also since Alfa Romeo is, at best a midfield team, he is under no pressure for any championship battles. All that he will be concerned is about racing as best as he can and helping develop the car for the current season and the 2021 season.
