“These Guys Are Not on My Level”- Khabib Nurmagomedov Responds to Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor

Khabib Nurmagomedov has officially pulled out of the title fight with Tony Ferguson. The undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion has taken the decision keeping the threat of the novel Coronavirus in mind. He discusses his decision with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in a recent interview.

The MMA world has seen a wide range of emotions after Khabib’s decision came out in public. Many fans used to feel that this matchup had a curse on it and now they confirm that it indeed is. However, many fighters are keen to replace Khabib in this fixture like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and more.

McGregor and Ferguson took to social media to share their thoughts on Khabib pulling out of the fight. Khabib came out on social media to respond to all these jabs. In an interview with ESPN Khabib goes on to remind everyone who the top dog of the lightweight division is. He went on to point out what position McGregor and Ferguson hold when it comes to being the best.

“When I’m in the UFC, always Tony going to be interim champion, and always Conor [McGregor] going to be No. 2 when I’m here. These guys are always going to be No. 2, I’m going to be No. 1, these guys going to be No. 2, interim, fake, these guys are not on my level. This is good, make them interim title, Tony deserve interim title, Conor No. 2, and everybody knows who’s the best.”- Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov Puts Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson in Their Place

Khabib adds that Tony deserves a fight for the interim title, for he believes that while he is competing in the UFC, the best Tony Ferguson can achieve is an interior title. And when it comes to Conor McGregor, he feels McGregor is nothing and that he will only go as far as being the runner up.

In addition, he reminds everyone about their fight in 2018. He claims McGregor had all the time in the world to prepare for their fight. But he was unable to perform and he tapped out “like chicken”.
