UFC 253 is rounding the corner, and the leading MMA promotion has released a video that has fight fans excited. The event has a headliner between Nigerian born and New Zealand-based champion Israel Adesanya and Brazil’s Paulo Costa. Chiefly, the marketing surrounding the fight stems from the narrative that both the aforementioned fighters are undefeated.

What’s more, a title fight that sees both headlining athletes having an undefeated record is a rare occurrence. The last time such an incident occurred was back at UFC 98, when Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida faced off against each other.

UFC 253 will be a certified firefight

The main event is being touted as a sure shot candidate to claim ‘Fight of the Year’ honors by the UFC President. Moreover, fans and MMA pundits also believe that the fight has all the making of a standout. Israel Adesanya already claimed the aforementioned honor when he fought Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236 in April 2019.

Furthermore, his opponent in Paulo Costa has the style that can make even an average viewer, a fan of the sport. ‘The Eraser’ marches forward with a reckless abandon and throws heavy shots throughout the fight. Additionally, he can largely maintain the same pace and puts an unwavering pressure on his opponents.

Israel Adesanya is arguably one of the best counter-strikers on the roster and is effective at managing distance. Fight fans have witnessed ‘The Last Stylebender‘ defy the odds by utilizing his skills over raw power. Israel goes into the fight as a favorite over Costa based on the varied skills he possesses.

Chiefly, both marquee fighters have shared animosity for each other and have been going back and forth in the media. Their competitive drive and relative disdain for each other will lead to an exciting battle. Not to mention, eyeballs have been drawn to the MMA world as UFC 253 is set to return to Fight Island.

The promotion’s first outing to Yas Island took the world by storm, and the company looks to repeat its success. The UFC will put forth five-fight cards over the course of five weeks, culminating with UFC 254 on October 24, 2020.
