The world mourns the loss of Anthony Causi whose charming, passionate and larger than life personality made him a cherished and admired photographer in the world of sports. The longtime photographer passed away following an arduous battle with Coronavirus on Sunday at the age of 48.

The New York Post photographer spent the better part of almost a quarter-century capturing iconic sporting moments in the Big Apple. While Causi earned the respect of a myriad of athletes, his gregarious personality earned him their affection as well.

The Brooklyn native joined The Post back in 1994 as a photo messenger. His talent and passion saw him take up the responsibility of an editor and later that of a full-time photojournalist.

As a part of his work, Causi covered some of the most iconic moments in MMA history. Some of his most recent events include Conor McGregor’s triumphant return against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January.  He also covered Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal headlining at UFC 244 at the Madison Square Garden in November.

Causi has covered the most emblematic moments in the world of boxing. For instance, Andy Ruiz’s Heavyweight Championship upset of Anthony Joshua. As well as, Deontay Wilder’s first-round knockout of Dominic Breazeale at the Barclays Center.

The New Yorker had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Whomsoever Causi had the good fortune of befriending fling praises his way, without a second’s hesitation.

A charismatic photographer who brought the fans closer to the action with his breathtaking stills. In addition, he was a kind and thoughtful individual and had an interest in taking photos at Little League events, pro bono.

Causi is survived by his wife Romina and children John and Mia. As well as his parents and sisters, Lucille and John Causi, Maria Marangelli and Dianna Marotto, respectively.

The sidelines will endure his absence eternally. And much like his photographs, Anthony Causi’s legacy will be etched in the hearts and minds of his admirers till the end of time.
