UFC heavyweight, Derrick Lewis, spoke to the media after his scintillating KO victory over Curtis Blaydes at UFC Vegas 19. Lewis crushed Curtis with an uppercut that sent ‘Razor’ Blaydes hurling to the canvas as stiff as a board. The end came in the second round after Blaydes was seemingly picking up the momentum in the striking realm.

‘The Black Beast’ has now tied the all-time UFC KO record at 12 alongside Vitor Belfort across all weight classes. He surpassed iconic strikers like Anthony Johnson and Anderson Silva to reach the summit. He will certainly become the unanimous leader, as he’s still got a long run left in him. Lewis has no plans of slowing down and has maintained activity as his main mantra.

The Houston native made sure to make an emphatic post-fight call out when sitting down for his media scrum. Lewis took aim at former title challenger Alistair Overeem, who is coming off a TKO loss in his last fight. Additionally, he revealed that he was looking at a quick turnaround after a successful outing at the Apex Facility.

“Soon as possible, soon as he passes concussion protocol or whatever, the suspension he got that would be soon as possible, but I would like a three-round-fight just cause, I don’t want a five-rounds.”

‘The Black Beast’ trashes Alistair Overeem

Derrick Lewis candidly explained that Overeem’s recent TKO loss to Alexander Volkov wasn’t a deterrent to take the fight. Lewis has been on record saying that ‘The Demolition Man’ has constantly downplayed his skills. The UFC will certainly push for the fight to happen considering there’s some bad blood brewing between the two.

“Yeah, I don’t care [that Overeem is coming off a loss]. I don’t care if he had a couple of losses in a row. It would be cool to fight him just cause he’s a so-called legend so it would be cool to fight somebody like that. Also, he been talking trash, he’s saying that his teammate Curtis can handle this lightweight and stuff like that.”

“We’ve been trying to fight him for years, and he turned down the fight four times already. He might take it, he’s been hit in the head a couple of times so he might forget all about what happened tonight so he’ll probably take it.”

The heat between Derrick Lewis and Alistair Overeem is clearly real considering that ‘The Black Beast’ is risking a title shot to fight him. With Derrick Lewis’ recent win, he’s next in line for contention after Jon Jones fights the winner of Miocic vs Ngannou 2.

However, ‘The Black Beast’ is not interested in sitting around and wants to squash Overeem at the earliest. Do you think the UFC would book this fight?
