Alistair Overeem recently spoke out at a media scrum as he charges into his headlining feature at UFC Fight Night. He touched upon a former opponent who is arguably one of the biggest names the sport has to offer.

The topic in question? Brock Lesnar’s potential return to the octagon. His WWE contract coming to an end begs the question of whether the 43-year-old American can find his way back to the octagon. Who better to pick this topic up than the very same fighter who welcomed Brock Lesnar back with a TKO after the latter underwent surgery.

‘The Demolition Man’ is set to face off against Augusto Sakai on September 5 at the UFC Apex Facility. The winner of the fight will find themselves in the driver’s seat to possibly be on the shortlist for the contention of the title.

“I don’t really pay attention cause I have my fight booked. As far as Brock goes, I don’t really think he’s coming back. I was wrong the last time though.”

Chiefly, several fans and media members were highly speculative as to the validity of Brock’s first return against Mark Hunt. Additionally, it is posited that Brock utilizes the talks for a return to wrangle a better WWE contract.

What’s more, he will have to re-enter the USADA testing pool for a minimum period of 4-6 months. The UFC had previously bypassed the rules for Lesnar’s previous return, and he ended up testing positive.

His win over Mark Hunt at the aforementioned UFC 200 was ruled out of the UFC’s record books. The promotion will be firm to ensure that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion enters the regular testing procedure.

As for Alistair Overeem, he has his sights set on halting the rise of his opponent in Augusto Sakai. The latter is on a 4 fight win streak and has showcased his heavy hands in his performances.

‘The Demolition Man’ will have to stop the up and comer in devastating fashion to insert himself into the title picture against Stipe Miocic.
