UFC President Dana White spoke out post-fight following the events that unfolded at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley. ‘Chaos‘ Covington secured a dominant fifth-round win over the former champion in Woodley after he suffered a rib injury. ‘The Chosen One’ was on his last legs and was being battered leading up to a final guillotine attempt that caused the injury. Moreover, he had just suffered a 113-2 strike differential to Covington in the previous round.
Tyron Woodley has now lost three straight fights, albeit to the highest level of competitors in the division. He has looked like a shell of his former self when the cage door has been closed behind him. Fight fans have begun the dreaded debate over whether Tyron Woodley should contemplate walking away from MMA.

The long-time boss of the promotion seemed to side with the general consensus about Tyron Woodley’s future. White touched on the illustrious career that he’s had and suggested that moving on was a prudent consideration. He said, “I think that he should start thinking about hanging it up. He’s had a great career, he’s had a great run you know, he’s made money.”

The division one wrestler has not looked the same ever since he stepped foot in the cage against Kamaru Usman. It appears he’s not as comfortable to let his hands go as he once was. Woodley’s patented explosiveness has waned in recent years and he comes off as gun-shy.

Heading into the fight, Tyron Woodley had touched on the inability to pull the trigger and seemed keen to rectify the trait. However, as the fight progressed at the Apex Facility in Vegas, his overall output dwindled. Not to mention, he’s heading into his 40s and has had a long career fighting high-level competition.
‘The Chosen One’ will seriously have to access the future of his career in the UFC after 3 straight losses. The 170-pound division continues to churn out dangerous contenders, and Tyron’s skill set seems to have downsized over the years. Keeping up with the new breed of 170-pounders will be no mean feat.
