“I’m Running Out of Time”- Alistair Overeem Features In Insane Promotional Video For UFC Fight Night

UFC Heavyweight Alistair Overeem took to Twitter and reposted a promotional video by the UFC ahead of his feature fight. ‘The Demolition Man’ is set to face hungry up and comer Augusto Sakai at UFC Fight Night on September 5. Additionally, the bout is expected to carry major implications for the winner in terms of securing a title shot.

The promotional take sees Overeem gear up for his last dance as he transitions into the final phase of his career. The kickboxing specialist has held belts in several major promotions including K-1 Grand Prix, DREAM, and Strike Force.

However, he has been unable to capture the UFC gold despite being inches away.

Alistair Overeem fought for the gold strap in the world’s largest MMA promotion back at UFC 203. He stepped in against Stipe Miocic in what was a highly anticipated event to determine the new king of the heavyweights. H

e ended up losing the contest by KO after Miocic turned the tide of their contest and effectively retained the UFC gold.

The 40-year-old precision striker from Amsterdam, Netherlands is part of the old guard of MMA as it stands. What’s more, he has buried questions related to his durability inside the cage with a flurry of strong performances.

Alistair Overeem is now 3-1 in his last four bouts with wins over top names such as Walt Harris and Aleksei Oleinik. Moreover, he almost scalped an impressive win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik back in December 2019, however, was TKO’ed late in the fight.

Augusto Sakai made his way to the Top-15 in the division after an impressive showing at Dana White’s Contender Series. He’s on a 4 fight win streak in the weight class with victories over Blagoy Ivanov and Marcin Tybura.

Moreover, he has only suffered a solitary loss to the heavy-handed Cheick Kongo before entering the UFC.

Sakai will be keen to utilize the main-event platform against a massive name in Alistair Overeem. An impressive win over ‘The Demolition Man’ will put him in the upper echelon of the division.

Overeem, on the other hand, will be looking to build on his momentum to pave his way to another shot at the Heavyweight strap.
