In 2017, former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor made a massive transition from the octagon to the boxing ring. He clashed against one of the greatest Floyd Mayweather in a professional boxing match.

However, ‘The Notorious’ couldn’t do much to the undefeated boxer and got knocked out in the tenth round. This gave his haters a chance to pinpoint the flaws in his fighting skills. However, the boxing legend Mike Tyson shared a different opinion on the Irishman’s game.

In one of the episodes of the Hotboxin podcast, ‘Iron Mike’ lauded the former UFC lightweight champion. Tyson said, He [Conor McGregor] never had a boxing match in his life, right? And he didn’t have a boxing match, right? He went ten rounds with the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing.”

“He went ten rounds, scored punches on the greatest fighter in the last 20 years a 100 years. Did he do something? Did he accomplish something?”– he added.

“These people ain’t looking people will just say: “Well, the black guy beat the white guy” But look what he had to fight against. And look what he did, what he fought against it”– Tyson concluded.

Will Conor McGregor return to the boxing ring

‘The Notorious’ is currently going through a rough patch in his professional career. After his loss against Mayweather, the Irishman returned to the UFC cage in a title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

Unfortunately, he faced the same fate inside the UFC cage. The once UFC two-division champion has only won one fight in the promotion since 2018. Furthermore, ‘The Notorious’ one is currently out of action because of a gruesome leg injury he suffered in his last bout, a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Hence, we might not see him step inside the boxing anytime soon. However, anything is possible when it comes to ‘Mystic Mac.’
