Amanda Lourenco Nunes is considered being one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. The reigning champion of the women’s bantamweight and featherweight divisions is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound female fighters in the octagon.

The Brazilian has made it all in her UFC career, and this would not have been possible without the constant support she gets from her wife, Nina Ansaroff. With all the backing from Ansaroff, Nunes became the first woman to be a two-division UFC champion. 

How Ansaroff and Nunes met

Nunes’ wife, Nina Ansaroff, is also a UFC fighter who competes in the strawweight division of the competition. Ansaroff was raised in Weston, Florida, and she began training as a mixed martial artist in the year 2009. She holds a terrific record of 16 wins and 6 losses in her career.

Nina is known for her comebacks, and her highest victory is considered being against Claudia Gadelha at UFC 231. The American mixed martial artist currently holds the number 6 position in women’s strawweight rankings and 13 in UFC women pound-for-pound rankings.

Nunes and Ansaroff are no less than a power couple in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Both of them met in the year 2012 and were training partners at the American Top Team gym in Florida. They both hit it off quite well and in 2018 the couple announced their engagement to the world.

They share a great bond, which came to the fore when Ansaroff told USA today – “Amanda is pretty much the exact opposite of what everyone thinks about her,” “When I first met her, I thought, ‘This lady is crazy.’ But she is the biggest sweetheart, she will do anything for her loved ones. She always likes to have fun. The only time she is serious is when that cage door pops.”

The couple met at a time when women were just fighting some small MMA fights. From then to now both of them have been a high-profile gay couple in the UFC world. They both are like pillars of support for each other, and Nunes has credited her share of success to Ansaroff.

Recently on September 24, 2020, the couple became proud parents to baby girl Raegan Ann Nunes. The couple lives openly and posts loving and affectionate pictures on social media with each other and their daughter.

Undoubtedly, The Brazilian lioness and her wife have set an example for the rest. They have made sure that the community feels empowered in all fields, even if it is sports. When asked on this topic, Ansaroff said–   “It is huge, not so much for us or the fact we are trying to get recognition as a gay couple, but for the human race as it is. People are people. They could be your neighbor or your next UFC champion. Treat everybody the same.”

The two of them are currently leading a happy married life with their daughter. Nina has been off from the octagon due to her pregnancy, but she will be back soon. All the UFC fans hope to see the power couple someday in the octagon, fighting each other as opponents and treating the viewers with an exciting show.
