Conor McGregor has very explicitly cited his interest in becoming a billionaire. The ‘Notorious’ has built an enormous brand for himself that he considers will soon turn his net worth to ten digits.
The Irishman has multiple brands under his belt. Most prominently his whiskey company, Proper twelve. Along with that, he’s in the clothing industry by the name of August McGregor. He owns a media house known as The Mac life. Moreover, he’s got his own fitness program called the McGregor fast. And the list goes on.

The UFC fighter also aims at turning his business global. So that the reach of his brand grows even more. However, recently his business suffered a massive blow in his brand plan.
Conor McGregor cannot use his name to sell products from his brands in the EU
The Dubliner’s company McGregor Sports and Entertainment Ltd’s application to register has been banned from using McGregor’s own name as a trademark for the sale of clothing, footwear, and sportswear across the EU. The EU agency that raised objections is a Holland-based company, McGregor IP B.V.

The Dutch brand itself makes apparel and accessories under the McGregor brand. Furthermore, apart from manufacturing, they also design, distribute, and sell these products as well.

The Spanish-based EU Intellectual Property Office has rejected the Irishman’s trademark application after stating that there was a “likelihood of confusion”
It isn’t the first time that his application was rejected.
This is the second time that the EUIPO has passed the decision to reject the UFC megastar’s request to register his name as the trademark against the dutch firm.

Previously also, McGregor IP B.V. Was successful at opposing MSEL to use Conor McGregor’s full name as its trademark. After a four-year-long battle, they announced the decision in 2020.
The Holland-based company acquired the IPR of ‘McGregor’ as its trademark in October 2017.

For now, McGregor sits at the 35th rank among the highest-earning athletes in 2022, with an estimated earning of $43 million in a calendar year.
