Colby Covington is one of the most controversial fighters in the UFC. The self-proclaimed super-villain of the UFC thinks he is the most hated man in the promotion as well.
‘Chaos’, the #1 ranked welterweight in the UFC, is preparing for his rematch against the welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. Both fighters last fought at UFC 245, in what went down as the ‘Fight of the Night’. Many believe it was the toughest challenge of Usman’s career.

After UFC 245, ‘Chaos‘ didn’t immediately talk to the media. According to him, he wanted to see how the media was going to talk about the fight.
In a recent interview, Colby said, “Going into the fight, a lot of people already had a biased opinion against me because of who I supported as the president of our country. They were labeling me certain labels when they knew nothing about me. They only know what I decide to show them. They don’t know the real me and the real person I am. I kind of wanted to sit back and reflect… I wanted to see how the media was going to spin it.”

“The funniest thing I saw was all the MMA media saying I got finished, and it wasn’t even competitive. It showed me the true colors of the MMA media and that they don’t know how to report impartial journalism,” he added.
Colby Covington – The persona and the hate
Colby Covington is arguably the biggest ‘heel’ in the UFC. Many people have come out and said that they don’t like him but respect his skills. But how did the hate start?
‘Chaos’ made his pro-MMA debut in 2012, and after just five fights, the UFC signed him in 2014. The start of his UFC career was great, and he won his first three fights. After being handed his first loss at UFC 194, he again went on a winning streak. After being 8-1 in the UFC, Colby was told by the promotion that they wouldn’t be resigning him after his next fight, no matter the outcome. That is when the change in persona came to him.
