The fight between Brandon Moreno and Figueiredo opened with a bang as Moreno scored a takedown within the first 20 seconds. But Figueiredo quickly regained control and got back on his feet. Both fighters were cautious in their approach, with Figueiredo sneaking in a front kick and Moreno connecting with his hands. Despite a fierce back-and-forth battle, the fight ultimately ended via the doctor’s stoppage. Brandon Moreno regained his title in front of a very hostile Brazilian crowd.

In the second round, Figueiredo secured an early takedown. Moreno, however, was able to quickly get up to his feet without taking any big injury knock. Moreno goes for another takedown but Figueiredo wasn’t having it. The back and forth continued till Moreno was on top of the Brazilian.

The third round saw the controversial incident take place. The Mexican fighter hit a powerful punch, followed by an accidental eye poke. Despite the incident, the referee allowed the fight to continue. Moreno controlled the round, keeping Figueiredo on his back until the bell. However, before the start of the fourth round, the doctor checked on Figueiredo’s eye. Moreover, since it was swollen shut, and the official stopped the fight. Moreno emerged victorious as the undisputed UFC flyweight champion. This really enraged Henry Cejudo.

Brandon Moreno shares his perspective on the controversy surrounding his win. Moreno explains, “The hook was clear, right in [Deiveson Figueiredo’s] right eye. Then, maybe that’s why the people were a little confused, because I pushed his head with my hand.” Moreno acknowledges that his actions may have caused confusion among fans and acknowledges that some may have been upset with him.

Moreno continues, “I know that some people were not happy with the situation, but I assure you that it was not intentional. My goal is always to fight with integrity and respect for my opponent.” Moreno emphasizes that his intentions were not to cause harm. Moreover, that he always strives to fight with integrity and respect.

Finally, Moreno concludes, “I respect the decision of the doctor and the officials to stop the fight. I understand that the safety of the fighters is always the top priority. I wish Deiveson Figueiredo a speedy recovery and I look forward to the next opportunity to fight him again.

Moreno expresses his respect for the decision made and wishes for a speedy recovery for his opponent. Moreno also looks forward to a future rematch.

More than half the stadium was empty halfway into the 4th round of the main event. Glover went out like the fucking beast. 43 year old man went absorbed 140+ significant strikes and stayed on his goddamn feet somehow looking for a chance. The least he deserved is to retire to a full stadium.
