Jorge Masvidal was slated to fight UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards at the UFC 269 event. Unfortunately, the fight couldn’t become a reality.

‘Gamebred’ pulled out of the match because of an undisclosed injury. In response to the injury’s mysterious nature, many people speculated that it was fake.

However, recently the Head Coach of the American Top Team, Mike Brown, threw some light on this mystery. During an interview with ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto, he revealed the details about Jorge’s injury.

Will Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards ever happen?

Meanwhile, Leon Edwards did not seem surprised when Masvidal pulled out of the fight. After the announcement, he quickly moved forward and locked his eyes on getting the gold. The 30-year-old English fighter is looking for a title shot against Kamaru Usman.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has defended his title 4 times as of now. The two had previously competed in 2015 and Usman had won the fight with a unanimous decision.

Edwards is looking hungry for the rematch and the belt. Additionally, UFC has not made anything official as of now. But reportedly, the match is in the works and is targeted for March/April next year.

On the contrary, Jorge Masvidal is in recovery mode and hasn’t announced his future plans. Jorge is on a two-fight losing streak, losing both at the hands of Kamaru Usman as well.

If Leon gets the title fight and wins it, Jorge vs Leon will definitely lose its hype. Therefore, until Masvidal doesn’t put on a show and gets two, three big wins under his name, this fight won’t happen.
