It is well known that Conor McGregor does not usually try to portray professionalism. The Irish fighter is notorious for being brash and ego-driven, mostly doing anything he pleases without much regard for consequences, thus earning him the nickname ‘The Notorious One’. Moreover, his fame has only added to his ability to bend the rules that apply to other competitors.

There have been many instances when McGregor has created havoc trying to do what he wanted. One such incident occurred back in 2017 when he tried to attack a referee after he was asked to leave the ring.

This did not sit well with McGregor who went on to shove Goddard after chasing him across the ring. Following this, the situation was de-escalated by the security officials.

They separated a livid McGregor from the referee and took him out of the ring. However, the Irishman did apologize for his behavior in an Instagram post after the event. He stated that he over-reacted to the situation and had learned from his mistakes in a lengthy apology

Although McGregor apologized for his reckless action, this was not the first or last time he would portray this kind of behavior. However, there might have been some hard feelings between the two as the pair have known each other for a long time. Goddard was a referee in Cage Warriors during the time McGregor competed in it before signing with the UFC.
