UFC lightweight star Conor McGregor took to social media and answered fan questions on the latest iteration of ‘AskNotorious’. The Irishman often takes time to answer the most pressing questions fans have regarding the sport of MMA. Chiefly, he was asked to candidly share his views on former three-time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler who debuted in the UFC this year.

McGregor couldn’t help but express his admiration for the work ‘Iron’ Mike has put in during his relatively short UFC tenure. Despite being 1-2, he has already fought for a UFC title and also put on arguably the greatest MMA fight ever against Justin Gaethje. His war against ‘The Highlight’ at UFC 268 will go down in the history books and McGregor took notice.

Interestingly enough, McGregor’s comments have been analyzed by fans because of his recent view of Chandler. Following Chandler’s war against Gaethje, both men verbally agreed to possibly square off in the future. Chandler was the first one to engage and initiate the idea, as his stock was at an all-time high.

Not to mention, Conor McGregor didn’t waste any time in responding and showed appreciation for the heart Chandler had shown. He left the door open to face the former Bellator champion if the opportunity arose in the future. His most recent tweet about Michael Chandler is reflective of the way he views the heavy-handed lightweight contender.

Stylistically, the match-up is extremely compelling considering that both men possess devastating KO power in the opposite hand. The clash of stances on the feet, coupled with their explosive power means someone is hitting the canvas. Moreover, they will most certainly manage to build up the fight in a way that will get the fans riled up.

However, McGregor’s injury from UFC 264 has left him sidelined and there’s no definite date for his return. ‘Notorious’ is still in recovery and will likely be out until summer next year. It’s unclear if Michael Chandler is looking to sit out for that long, considering where he is currently in his career.
