Australian fighter Alexander Volkanovski surprised many fans with his impressive performance against Islam Makhachev, despite ultimately losing to him. Some fans even consider Volkanovski to be the true winner of the fight. Subsequently, this is increasing interest in a potential rematch between the two fighters. However, Volkanovski must first face Yair Rodriguez for the UFC undisputed featherweight title. Volkanovski’s performance has earned him newfound respect from many of his doubters, including a UFC legend.

Islam Makhachev, on the other hand, won the UFC 284 main event by unanimous decision. However, but not without some concerns from fans and experts. Although he managed to survive a tough final round, many are now questioning his legacy in comparison to his mentor Khabib Nurmagomedov. Despite the victory, Makhachev has some work to do to prove himself as a true contender in the UFC. Moreover, rumors are surfacing which accuse him of IV re-hydration before the fight.

While Volkanovski put on an impressive performance, the loss will undoubtedly be disappointing for him, especially given the uncertainty of a potential rematch with Makhachev. He will also face the many challenges of the featherweight division in the future. Nevertheless, both fans and experts are singing his praises for his valiant effort.
