Darren Till is one of the best UFC fighters and is ranked #6 in the middleweight rankings. The English mixed martial artist is well versed in the disciplines of Muay Thai and kickboxing. Till is one of the most disciplined and hardworking fighters in the UFC.

Also called ‘The Gorilla’, he had a keen interest in the sport and has been practicing since the tender age of 12. The English-born fighter definitely has a long way to go in his UFC career. With an amazing record of 18 wins and 3 losses, he is a former welterweight championship contender.

Till’s love for Liverpool is not a hidden fact for the MMA fraternity, and his visit to Liverpool has been one of the most memorable moments for the fighter

Despite being one of the best fighters in the MMA world, Till has expressed his love and passion for football, especially Liverpool. In one of his interviews, the fighter said,

“I was a good footballer, played right midfield. Although I got a few red cards, I loved football as a kid, supported Liverpool and my hero was Steven Gerrard. I thought about becoming a footballer.

“I actually did support Everton as a child, at about two, three or four. moved so I’m a traitor. My dad supported Everton, he used to buy me the kit. But when I was getting older — five or six — I knew I wanted to be a Liverpool fan. “I just loved Liverpool. My mum will probably have an Everton pic”

Till’s Visit to Liverpool

Darren Till’s visit to Liverpool was one of the grandest events in the history of any fighter. The fighter expressed how he was addressed by people and how he thoroughly enjoyed his visit. In an interview with ESPN, the fighter said,

“It’s mad, everywhere I go, whether I’m in the car or walking, everyone just knows me and it’s like, ‘Darren Till, the face of MMA in Liverpool’

“I love it. I love the positive attention, I really do. I’m always going to be grounded, I’ve still got the same bunch of mates from when I was a kid. I still go to the same places and do the same things. I still think that I’m a 17-year-old boy and nothing will change. The only thing that’s changed for me is that I’m going to become one of the greatest fighters of all time.”

One of the major highlights of the visit was his entrance to the weekend at UFC Fight Night on May 27, where he changed his entrance song from ‘In The Air Tonight’ by Phil Collins to ‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond, which resulted in 8500 people singing along and creating an incredible moment.

Till who has competed in iconic stadiums like MSG, which is considered as the Mecca of Combat Sports, desires to bring the UFC main event to Anfield and wishes to fight Israel Adesanya in his next fight at Liverpool.
