After suffering a crushing defeat in the interim title bout against Ciryl Gane, Derrick Lewis redeemed himself against Chris Daukaus in a record-breaking non-title fight. ‘The Black Beast’ now wants to continue on this path against former heavyweight strap owner, Stipe Miocic.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Derrick Lewis revealed his last fight showed him that he does well if he heads into fight week without any pressure. Per the former UFC heavyweight title challenger; as big pressure fights aren’t his cup of tea, he just wants to go out there and have fun.

“I feel like I don’t have to prove anything. So that’s one of the reasons why I want to fight Stipe next. I believe that would be a great matchup for the fans and for both of us. He’s more of a wrestler, and I’m more of a wrestler, as well, too. So it would be a great, entertaining fight,” Lewis said.

“I’ve fought just about everyone in the division that’s in the top-10. It’d be a new face, new blood, and I believe that I’d be a heavy underdog in this fight. I can get my fans their money back from the Gane fight,” Lewis asserted while reminiscing about his loss against ‘Bon Gamin’.

The former heavyweight champion of the UFC, Stipe Miocic, is one of the greatest fighters to grace the 265-pounds division. Miocic (20-4) was involved in a tug of war for the heavyweight strap with Daniel Cormier and Francis Ngannou. However, the game ended earlier last year as ‘The Predator’ sent Miocic into oblivion with a massive hook.
