Gilbert Burns Certain He Will Fight Kamaru Usman Again

When Gilbert Burns fought former teammate Kamaru Usman at UFC 258 challenging for the welterweight belt, he couldn’t realize his dreams of becoming a UFC champion. However, he still keeps a good relationship with ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and hopes to battle it out with him once again.

Burns started off very well in his fight against Usman at UFC 258. But the champion’s jab proved to be a deciding factor in the contest as he eventually knocked out ‘Durinho’ despite early adversity.

Speaking to Helen Yee, Burns said, “I got a lot of respect for any, to be honest, or any fighter that goes through all the fighters to make your weight training complete.

“And he was he is supporting one of our guy he’s here when Sean Soriano show had a fight in the Abu Dhabi and they’re very close so he came here to watch Sean sparring. Then,we just exchanged couple of words.

The former lightweight fighter also added that he met Usman at UFC 260 as both were doing cornering responsibilities. “I saw him last week too, I was cornering Vicente Luque, he was cornering Francis Ngannou.

“We bump each other a couple times, nothing different you know. I too respect him a lot but I just have a feeling that we’re gonna see him again,” he added.

Byrns will fight former two-time title challenger Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson at UFC 264. The striking wizard is seeking a title shot himself, and so is Burns.

Stakes will be high when both men collide; a win will catapult either of them to another shot at the gold.

However, both know they have their hands full. ‘Wonderboy‘ has a very complete fighter, just as his opponent is. And for Burns, it won’t be a walk in the park to solve the puzzle that Thompson is.
