The UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan, frequently talks about a lot of unknown stuff from the MMA world on his podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience”. On one of its episodes, the noted sports documentarian, Will Harris, joined Rogan.

The two were discussing weight cuts and future fights while Rogan made a shocking revelation about one of the most feared fighters on the current roster, Khamzat Chimaev. Rogan stated how Chimaev almost went to “death’s door” while he kept training, even after being diagnosed with a COVID infection.

Chimaev’s madness towards training was something that astounded Joe Rogan. He quoted, “That fu***ng dude would not stop training, that’s how crazy he is”. Adding on to his words, Rogan also stated, “He kept training while he had COVID, he was hospitalised twice“.

Will Harris gave his knowledge about the incident, adding, “Yeah, coughing up blood and all“. Harris also stated about an interview given by Chimaev’s coach where he said that Chimaev “hasn’t been the same since he caught COVID”.

Harris also seemed to have some knowledge about Chimaev’s obsession with training. Speaking about ‘Borz’ missing weight before the UFC 279 fight, Harris quoted retired mixed martial artist Dan Henderson, who felt, “His body is not reacting to the weight cut” since Chimaev was training too much”.

He answered Will Harris’ question, “What do you think he needs to do?” stating, “I think he should get with a legitimate weight cut specialist”. Rogan further mentioned, “he needs someone with him who is in camp, 24*7″.

Being the best in the MMA world definitely comes with the price of blood and sweat. But looking towards your own condition is perhaps a lot more important. Being fans of the sport, we all want to see more Khamzat Chimaev fights. My personal suggestion for Chimaev is that he needs to calm down and take it easy sometimes.
