The link between martial artists and the world of movies is quite deep. Starting from the widely accepted ‘father of MMA’, Bruce Lee, to the recent UFC icon, Conor McGregor’s inclusion in the movie, ‘Road House’. The silver screen has often featured martial artists in it. The famed Hollywood actor, Michael Jai White, also may be considered as one such example. Despite fighting in multiple amateur tournaments and even earning black belts across Kyokushin Karate, Goju-Ryu Karate, Shotokan Karate, Taekwondo, and multiple other martial arts disciplines, Jai White never decided to go professional.

Martial artists are known for being extremely tough individuals. The 55-year-old Hollywood star wasn’t an exception to this. His attraction toward masculine toughness was revealed when he visited the coveted talk show of ‘djvlad’ YouTube channel run by the known American interviewer, journalist, and former disc jockey, Vladimir Lyubovny, better known as Vlad. Jai White and the ‘djvlad’ host, Vlad, both agreed on the point that men should refrain from displaying their extreme emotions publically. Further, they also discussed one of the Hollywood movies which had severely violated this notion.

Despite Jai White building a career mostly out of starring in action movies, the duo discussed how there were others in Hollywood who showcased completely contrary characters. Vlad pulled up the example of the noted 2001 Hollywood movie, ‘Baby Boys’. He mentioned how its lead actor, the famed Tyrese Gibson, actually had a similar real-life character to what he had played in the movie.

He also stated, A lot of times people get stuck in the moment that they sort of breakthrough. However, they break through, they get stuck in that moment.” He further reminded that Gibson’s moment of breaking through into Hollywood entertainment was the movie Baby Boy. That was his first starring role. And I think definitely a classic overall.”

However, Jai White revealed his sour opinion about ‘Baby Boy’ stating, Not to me. That movie pi**ed me off, but that’s a different thing.” Further, Vlad stated how the plot of the movie basically revolved around a grown man who still acts like a baby.” He also described Gibson’s real-life situation, stating, “He’s a grown man with a child who’s acting like the child.”

Finally Jai White gave out his ultimate statement in the movie. He mentioned, It pi*ses me off coz it makes it seem that that’s what our people are like. You know, yeah, there’s the lowest comment on the nominators. But why do we have to always pop up those stories?”

There’s a five-year-old video of Gibson showcasing him, crying over his daughter being separated from him. The video had been the source of a lot of memes at the time.

The video was actually an Instagram live session from Gibson. After his divorce from his wife, Gibson was separated from his beloved daughter Shayla as well. The Instagram session he hosted was meant to share some of his grief with his audience.

Jai White and Vlad both derided Gibson for this video as well. They were very much of the opinion that the grievous incidents of one’s life don’t need to be showcased on social media. The ‘Fast and Furious’ actor also received some heat from the talk-show duo due to breaking down and crying.
