“I Was Exhausted Mentally, Physically and Emotionally”: Molly McCann Discloses “Crying” Every Day for Four Months After a Life-Changing Year Inside the Octagon

UFC star Molly McCann has become one of the most renowned faces of the UFC in recent times. She even performed at the prestigious Madison Square Garden arena at UFC 281. The UFC fighter has had a whirlwind of a year and is taking time for herself. The Liverpool native is an entertaining fighter and has become a brand in itself.

Molly McCann currently holds the record of thirteen wins and 5 losses without any draws. She won theFight of the Night’ award for the match against Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Till. McCann also won the ‘Performance of the Night’ award two times.

McCann is one of the most in-demand athletes in combat sports. But all of these things have had a negative effect on the 32-year-old fighter. She recently spoke to Sky Sports in a recent interview. McCann talked about her decision to take time off from the Octagon after her loss to Erin Blanchfield.

Molly McCann couldn’t stop crying after the loss at UFC 281

Molly McCann went into the fight at UFC 281 with a 3-win streak. Before Erin Blanchfield defeated her, McCann admitted that she had been crying constantly for several months. She also admitted that she was feeling overwhelmed with emotions before her fight at Madison Square Garden because of all the publicity. In her post-fight interview at UFC 281, she mentioned how deeply she felt ‘devastated’ about the fight.

“In August I hit my ceiling in terms of my mental capacity. I was exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally. I was getting to grips with being fairly known – but nobody can prepare you for not having a personal life anymore,” said McCann.

McCann confessed that there were a few months when she had trouble sleeping. She told Sky Sports, “This dull, anxious feeling in my belly and I couldn’t stop crying. I was just completely done in and I couldn’t cope with how much my life had changed and my mind hadn’t been given time to catch up.”

McCann was about to get snubbed by the UFC after her losses to Lara Procopio and Taila Santos. But her 3-win streak helped her get through that predicament. But facing a devastating first-round loss to Erin Blanchfield impacted her deeply.
