A lot of fans might not want the UFC light heavyweight great, Jon Jones, to turn out at heavyweight, but former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre absolutely wants that to happen. In an interview, the former welterweight champion has opened up on several issues. One of them is the much-awaited contest between Jones and Miocic.

As per GSP, Jon Jones has done it all in the light heavyweight roster and has nothing more to prove there. Thus, citing the heavyweight move to be an appropriate one, Georges St-Pierre is keen on seeing Jon Jones go against Stipe Miocic.

Although the matchup is still far from being booked, it has already sent fight fans into a frenzy. Several people have picked their sides in the matchup. Meanwhile, ‘GSP’ has picked Jones over Miocic.

GSP added that Jones has a very big frame. He believed ‘Bones’ skill set will rake him over several top-rated heavyweights in the promotion. Talking about it, he added, “I believe Jon Jones can do it,. He has a very big frame. I used to see him live, you know when we trained years ago. He was a very big man, and he is very, very skilled and I think now he is in his prime and that’s the time for him to make the move.

GSP is a two-division champion in the UFC. He moved up from welterweight to middleweight in 2017 to face Michael Bisping. Despite being the smaller man, he finished Bisping to become the dual champion. Thus, he believes that  Jones can do the same.

“I understand him in a way that you have done it all as a light heavyweight you know. Why risking your legacy for a little reward when you can go up and you risk it all well but there’s more reward in terms of legacy, in terms of money,” said GSP.

That said, Francis Ngannou is still ahead of Jones in the heavyweight title race and will face Miocic for the belt next. After that, Jones can make his sensational debut in the division against the eventual champion.
