UFC megastar Conor McGregor took to social media and finally announced that his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier is official. The news recently broke that the fight was good to go for July 10, however, only Poirier had signed the contract. While it was understood that Conor McGregor would soon sign the dotted line, fans are excited about the official confirmation.

What’s more, Conor McGregor seems clear that he’s made the necessary adjustments to defeat Dustin Poirier. ‘The Notorious’ is coming off the first TKO loss of his career, and he’ll want to put a definitive stamp in the rubber match. As it stands, the MMA community is riding with McGregor as he’s the favorite going into the fight.

Dustin Poirier showed incredible growth from his first fight against McGregor in September 2014. ‘The Diamond’ is a changed man and he’s most certainly going to be looking to carry forward his momentum in the trilogy fight. Moreover, MMA pundits argue that Poirier may have more to lose if he is defeated by the Irishman. ‘The Diamond’ passed up on a title shot in order to face Conor McGregor in a box-office money fight. Should he lose, he’ll likely take several steps away from the undisputed championship. The lightweight division is a shark tank and a single slip-up could be disastrous going forward.

As for McGregor, a loss would put him on his first two-fight skid in his storied professional MMA career. What’s more, his star power will post certainly take a sizeable hit, especially if he’s finished again. However, McGregor being the mainstream star that he is will more than likely find a way back on his feet.
