Khamzat Chimaev Targets Kamaru Usman in Recent Post- Claims He’s the New Welterweight Champion

UFC welterweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev took to Twitter and fired shots at the undisputed 170-pound champion Kamaru Usman. ‘Borz’ came out and blasted Usman and to some extent the entire division claiming he’s the rightful champion because he’s undefeated. None of the top welterweights are undefeated currently, not even ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ who is the personification of perfection as of late.
Khamzat Chimaev went out of his way to remind fans and his divisional rivals that he’s never tasted defeat. However, he’s only had 9 fights thus far, only three of which have been in the UFC. Despite his relatively short tenure with the company, Chimaev is confident that his undefeated status will carry him forward.

Khamzat Chimaev: An overview
‘The 2020 Breakout Fighter of the Year’ has certainly had a rough go in the organization in the last 8 months. He last fought in September and was the epitome of what a rising star should look like in the UFC. Furthermore, ‘Borz’ looked virtually untouchable with the way he was going about KO’ing people stiff.
However, things would soon be derailed due to COVID-19, and he’s had three fights canceled due to the virus. What’s more, he began suffering from its lingering effects and was on the sidelines in no time. Things got so bad that Khamzat Chimaev came out a retired from the sport, a move that he would soon retract.

Can ‘Borz’ turn things around?
The Swedish-Russian fighter has lost a lot of momentum and is not the major player he once was. Moreover, he’s missed out on his opportunity to jump up the ranks and face number three ranked Leon Edwards. A booking against Neil Magny is also looking sketchy at the moment, thus leaving Chimaev severely compromised.
However, it’s not all gloomy for Chimaev who will undoubtedly be welcomed back in a huge way by UFC fans. Not to mention, Dana White and the UFC brass have pegged him as a future champion despite his short tenure. Chimaev will be focused on getting his health in order so that he can pick up where he left off.
