UFC commentator Joe Rogan discusses athletes from other sports on his podcast quite often. One name that came up on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience was 7’1″ NBA star, Shaquille O’Neal. The former 4-time NBA champion is also known for his humongous physique apart from his awesome on-court skills. Given the former Los Angeles Lakers man’s size, Rogan predicted what would happen if ‘Diesel’ ever graced the MMA cage.

Joe Rogan, along with his guest for the episode, Andrew Santino, were in utter shock as they found that Shaquille O’Neal weighed about 330lbs. Both of them were startled at the same time, saying, “Shaq’s 330!”

Andrew Santino wanted to know, “Who’s the heaviest fighter who’s ever fought,” to which Joe Rogan replied, “265 when they weigh in, after that probably Brock.” The ex-Fear Factor host also described how a 300lbs Brock Lesnar had to cut weight to 265 lbs before a fight.

Joe Rogan provided his view on Shaquille O’Neal in MMA

There’s a certain height-weight ratio to a human body. Every MMA fan will know the intense amount of struggle which every fighter goes through during a weight cut. Fighters often look dehydrated and exhausted while they step on the weighing scale.

Hence, looking at the NBA legend’s size, Joe Rogan stated, A guy like that could never fight in the UFC, coz he probably can’t make 265. If he made it, he would be SHREDDED.

None of the two fighters will have any undue advantage if placed under the same weight class. Hence, Rogan doesn’t understand the problem of having people of higher weights fighting each other in the UFC.
