With Khabib Nurmagomedov bidding adieu to the MMA completely, another one of his manager’s clients is ready to take the spot. Li Jingliang is looking to settle things with Tony Ferguson in this new year. These two were supposed to square off against each other at UFC 279 in September last year, but due to the last-minute shuffle in the card, it didn’t go as planned. However, ‘The Leech’ is now represented by the powerhouse MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz under Dominance MMA management. With that development, it appears that Jingliang is now looking to proceed further by getting his unfinished business done with Tony Ferguson. And with that approach in mind, the Chinese UFC fighter has called out Ferguson, along with a pre-stated timeline for the fight.

Li Jingliang wants to rebook the Tony Ferguson bout

Tony Ferguson, who is currently on a 5 fights losing streak in the UFC, has received a fresh challenge from his former challenger, Li Jingliang. Moreover, ‘The Leech’ has come up with a March window for the Mexican fighter to square off in the octagon.

Li Jiangling may have had a chance to rise in the sport after their initial clash at UFC 279, but Khamzat Chimaev‘s failure to make weight led to the card being turned upside down.

UFC 279 fared terribly for Li Jiangling

With all the reshuffling of the card, Tony Ferguson was promoted to fight Nate Diaz in the main card event. Wherein Li Jiangling was forced to face Daniel Rodriguez. The fight ended with a split decision, with Rodriguez taking home the victory with two 29-28 scorecards. Although many felt that ‘The Leech’ got robbed at the fight, what’s done is done.

Li Jiangling initially planned to capitalize on Ferguson’s declining form, but destiny didn’t favor him with that. However, as they say, ‘Better luck next time’. That’s how ‘The Leech’ is now approaching things and wants to pick things right where he left off.

But Tony Ferguson doesn’t seem too interested in this fight. Jiangling’s callout tweet received a response from a user who cautioned him against doing this. To which the Mexican expressed agreement in his response.
