Diaz last fought at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden. The Stockton native was part of the main event for the BMF title fight against Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal. Diaz suffered a third round TKO defeat as the fight was called off due to a doctor stoppage.
Many fans and experts, including Diaz himself, believed the fight should have been allowed to continue as those injuries are common in any of his fights. The cut above his eye was nasty looking, but Diaz is a warrior who is known to go out on his shield always.
The younger Diaz has campaigned for his rematch against Masvidal since. But “Gamebred” has gone on to fight for the title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. He is also expected to fight longtime teammate Colby “Chaos” Covington next.
The trilogy fight with Conor McGregor was also on the cards as a possibility. But “The Notorious” is set to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. He looks set to make another run at the lightweight title in his resurgence. This has left Diaz out in the cold searching for a significant opponent.

What’s next for Nate Diaz?
Nate Diaz’s last win came at the co-main event of UFC 241, as he defeated Anthony Pettis via decision. He is currently fighting at welterweight, and it looks unlikely for him to drop back to 155 lbs. Also, with the welterweight division stacked, Diaz has to fight regularly to be in the title picture. But it seems he is only looking for big money fights at this point of his career.
Further, fans miss seeing Nate Diaz in action. Diaz remains one of the biggest draws in the UFC, despite fighting only twice in almost 5 years.

Who does Diaz fight next if he returns to the UFC remains to be seen. A BMF title rematch against Masvidal or the trilogy fight with McGregor look like the most feasible options. But with both the stars chasing UFC gold, those bouts have been stalled. What Diaz’s next move is remains to be seen.
