Pedro Munhoz UFC Losses: Who Has Beaten Pedro Munhoz Inside the Octagon?

Pedro Munhoz is all set to face Jose Aldo at the UFC 265 co-main event. This will be Munhoz’s 26th professional MMA fight, currently, the fighter has a record of (19-5-1). ‘The Young Punisher’ last competed at the UFC Vegas 20 event where he faced and defeated Jimmie Rivera.

Munhoz is a former Bantamweight Champion of Resurrection Fighting Alliance. And is currently ranked No.9 in the UFC’s Bantamweight rankings. Therefore Munhoz would like to get a victory over Aldo and move up the bantamweight division.

‘The Young Punisher’ made his MMA debut back in 2009, and before joining the UFC had an incredible record of (10-0). Therefore, as Aldo looks to compete in his 16th UFC fight, we decided to take a look at all the losses he has suffered inside the UFC Octagon.

Pedro Munhoz’s UFC debut against Raphael Assuncao

Munhoz took his MMA record to 10-0 when he defeated Billy Daniels at the RFA 12 event. Following that victory, Munhoz left RFA to join the UFC and competed in his first-ever fight at UFC 170. The Brazilian fighter faced Raphael Assuncao at the event and lost that fight via unanimous decision.

Assuncao was coming into the fight on the back of 5 consecutive victories. He had beaten fighters like Mike Easton and T.J. Dillashaw during this streak and therefore was considered the favorite against Munhoz. That is exactly what happened as Assuncao comfortably won the fight.

A close fight with Jimmie Rivera

On November 7, 2015, Munhoz face Jimmie Rivera for the first time. The two fighters competed at the UFC Fight Night 77 event. This was Munhoz’s 4th fight in the UFC and the fighter was looking to get a win to prove his talent. In his last fight, Munhoz had defeated Jerrod Sanders via submission. However, the decision was overturned as he tested positive for the exogenous origin of testosterone.

Rivera was coming into the fight on the back of 16 consecutive victories and was undefeated for over 7 years. Therefore, many did not give Munhoz any chances based on Rivera’s record. However, the fighter put on an admirable display, but in the end, lost via a split decision.

Pedro Munhoz losses to ‘The Magician’

After a not-so-great start to his UFC career, Munhoz finally got into his groove and won 4 consecutive fights. ‘The Young Punisher’ defeated fighters like Justin Scoggins and Rob Font in dominant fashion and was ready to extend his win streak at UFC 222.

The fighter was set to face John Dodson at UFC 222. Dodson was coming into the fight on the back of a loss against Marlon Moraes. Therefore, many believed Munhoz had a splendid chance of winning this fight. However, ‘The Magician’ fought admirably in that fight and in the end proved too much for Munhoz.

Munhoz lost that fight via split decision and gained his 3rd MMA and UFC loss.

Pedro Munhoz loses to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238

Since his loss to John Dodson, Munhoz had garnered momentum again and was facing Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238. This was Munhoz’s 13th fight in the UFC and he was looking well placed to move up in the UFC rankings. Sterling was looking for the same and was also coming into the fight on the back of 3 consecutive victories.


Many felt that they would consider the winner of this fight to be the No.1 contender for the title. Therefore, both fighters gave it their all throughout the fight. In the end, Sterling got the victory via unanimous decision.

A back-and-forth fight with Frankie Edgar?

In his first 5 round fight in the UFC, the fighter faced Frankie Edgar at UFC Vegas 7. Munhoz was coming into this fight on the back of a loss against Aljamain Sterling. While Edgar had suffered 2 consecutive losses before this fight and wanted a victory really badly. This was also Edgar’s debut in the Bantamweight division.

This fight was a rollercoaster event as both fighters gave it their all for 5 rounds. Edgar won this very close fight via split decision, much to the dismay of every Munhoz fan. This epic clash between these two was chosen as the Fight of the Night.
