REVEALED: Is UFC 282 Star Paddy Pimblett the Same Ethnicity as Megastar Conor McGregor

Fighters from the British Isles have shown their domination in the UFC a number of times. From Michael Bisping to current showstopper, Paddy Pimblett, fighters from the British Isles have also achieved massive recognition in the UFC with their fight skills. But, nobody in this field can beat ‘The Notorious’, Conor McGregor. The man from Dublin, Ireland, took the sport of MMA to all new heights with his stupendous in-ring skills and brash attitude on the mic. McGregor went on to gain unmatched fame from the UFC, which made him one of the most celebrated athletes in the entire sports world.

Paddy Pimblett considered one of the UFC’s brightest prospects, also hails from the British Isles. The boy from Huyton, Merseyside, had a meteoric rise in the UFC after his signing on 4 September 2021.

‘The Baddy’ has gone on to become a crowd favorite within a very short span which has led pundits to compare him to ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. The similar meteoric rise of both of these combatants from the British Isles may trigger a question within many about whether they are ethnically related or not.

Conor McGregor’s ethnicity

Conor McGregor has carried the Irish flag with him multiple times. He has also proudly talked about his Irish origins in many of his pre-fight press conferences. All these actions leave his fans with no doubt about ‘Mystic Mac’s’ origin. The UFC star was born in Crumlin, located in the city of Dublin- the capital of Ireland. The surname McGregor can be traced back to Scottish Origins.

The then motto of the McGregor clan, ‘Royal is our race’ and fighting spirit can still be noticed in today’s Conor McGregor. One can say that McGregor loves wearing his Irish nationality on his sleeve. His most renowned business venture, the ‘Proper 12 Irish Whiskey‘, may also be considered a testimony to his love for Ireland.

Is Paddy Pimblett Irish?

Many have confused the Origin of ‘The Baddy’ over time. Some have even labeled the boy from Liverpool to be Irish. But Pimblett has called himself a proud ‘Scouser’. He was born in Huyton, Merseyside, in the Liverpool Urban Area of the UK with the actual name of Patrick, which was later shortened to Paddy. He was primarily raised in Liverpool in a family of five, including himself.

Pimblett‘s father works as an entrepreneur and his mother has been reported to be a stay-at-home parent. His family consists of his half-brother, Roe, and half-sister, Kristy apart from himself.

He went to Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School and St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School, which are both based in Liverpool. Hence, it can be firmly said that Paddy Pimblett is not Irish.

Paddy Pimblett – The next Conor McGregor?

There has been no shortage of people who have compared Pimblett to McGregor. ‘The Baddy’ boasts a soring rise to fame within just about a year of his UFC career. Audiences have memorized his entrance theme, which gets them to their feet each time it plays. Things that Pimblett does today are very much similar to what McGregor did during his initial days in the UFC.

Pimblett currently boats a spotless ‘4-0’ record in the UFC and has enthralled the crowd with most of his bouts, which is very much similar to McGregor. But, it is pertinent to note that McGregor has been the voice behind some of the most iconic lines in the sport of MMA. Right from, “You can call me Mystic Mac” to “We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over,McGregor’s lines have achieved a level of recognition that might be very hard to match for ‘The Baddy’. Pimblett is also a fantastic worker with the mic and his Scouser comment garnered a good amount of reactions as well.

But it’s still early days for Paddy Pimblett in the UFC. It will be crucial for him to improve himself constantly so that he can attract more people to his events. On the other hand, McGregor has already touched such a height in this sport, which would be nearly unattainable for any other fighter in the sport. But, this is MMA and anything can happen here. As of now, many would agree that Pimblett is comparable to McGregor, irrespective of the future fate of both. What do you think?
