UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards silenced his doubters after successfully defending the title at UFC 286. ‘Rocky’ defeated Kamaru Usman via a majority decision in their trilogy fight in London. Moreover, Edwards’ former rival and UFC veteran Nate Diaz took to social media to react to the British fighter’s win.

Fans swarmed Leon Edwards with comments about his UFC 278 win against Kamaru Usman as a fluke. With a majority decision at the 02 Arena, he proved everyone wrong. ‘Rocky’ displayed amazing striking skills, showcase great tactics in wrestling defense, and managed his distance well during the fight against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare.’

However, Edwards’ former rival Nate Diaz took a jibe at the reigning welterweight champion and posted a video clip of one of the moments from their fight at UFC 263 on Twitter. The Stockton native’s video showed the flurry of punches he delivered on Edwards in the last round of their fight, which saw the British fighter visibly rocked and almost lose to a knockout. Many fans reacted to it on social media. Diaz captioned the post: “Still.”

There were some fans who claim that Leon Edwards is a champion on paper since he believes that both Kamaru Usman and Nate Diaz beat him.

Moreover, another fan shared the same sentiment that Diaz should have finished the fight against Leon Edwards instead of mocking him.

Nate Diaz did put on a tremendous showing against Edwards. It went the distance but didn’t convert into a win for the UFC veteran. On the other hand, ‘Rocky’ had a successful title defense at UFC 286 and would look to carry the momentum onto this next fight. He has been called out by the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev after defeating Kamaru Usman. We will have to wait and see what follows.
