Conor McGregor has triggered a heated debate within the UFC community. ‘The Notorious’ is alleged to have taken some sort of performance-enhancing substance in an effort to recuperate more quickly. In this circumstance, McGregor’s bulked-up physique has just fueled the flames further. Now, along with many others, UFC veteran, Matt Brown has joined the conversation, too. Along with all the various interpretations that have come out already, Brown puts forth his own distinct point of view on the McGregor-USADA debate.

During a podcast on ‘MMA Fighting’, Matt Brown expressed his thoughts on the situation and called it a mere ‘loophole’ that McGregor was able to find.

Did Conor McGregor find a loophole in USADA?

Matt Brown spoke on the Conor McGregor and USADA controversy. In fact, several people have raised the discussion about whether McGregor is clean or not. Brown said that McGregor stepping away from the USADA pool made a clear indication that there’s more to the story. He said, “I think we all know why (he dropped out of the testing pool), but it’s just a loophole.” 

He further said McGregor benefits in a way that other fighters do not. And also stated that if others were in his shoes, they would have done the same, too.

Brown also stated that he is surprised by the fact that other fighters didn’t go the McGregor way before, since it looks viable. “It’s kind of always surprised me nobody has exploited this to a greater extent where they fight once a year, pull out of the pool straight away. Do six months of steroids, six months of testing, fight again. It surprised me no one has done this.” Brown said.

‘The Notorious’ aims to make a comeback in 2023

The Irishman recently tweeted about being ‘clear’ for his USADA testing in February 2023. And the tweet just worked as another pile to the already loaded controversial set-up. Many have claimed that McGregor is not clean, given the fact he recovered quickly and looks really big. But that is just one of the many speculations.

Further, the fighter has never failed a USADA test.

McGregor is surrounded by controversy yet again. However, ‘The Notorious’ is certain to make his grand comeback to the UFC in 2023. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
