UFC brought in Colby Covington as the backup fighter for the UFC 286 headliner. However, the fight went on as scheduled, and Covington could only attend the post-fight press conference when he commented on fighting Khamzat Chimaev. He claims that he was never offered to fight ‘Borz’.

The former UFC title challenger stated that he had been asking the people to fight Khamzat Chimaev but never received a formal offer. He also mentioned that ‘Borz’s unprofessional attitude has made it harder for the fight to take place. Covington called him a ‘clown’ and claims that Chimaev doesn’t know how to fight. He doesn’t want anything to do with him.

Khamzat Chimaev has clapped back at Colby Covington’s comments. The Swedish fighter addressed these comments in a recent video from his YouTube channel. Chimaev may be looking ahead to fight in the middleweight division. But that didn’t stop him from getting back at the welterweight star.

‘Borz’ claims that Covington made some false statements during the post-fight press conference last weekend, and the California native doesn’t want to face him inside the octagon. Chimaev said, “Colby [Covington] is lying. He doesn’t want to fight. I swear with everything I have. I swear with God.” He even swore on his religion, and added, “I accepted the fight four times and the Muslims understand I swear with the Koran.”

Khamzat has accused Covington of lying in the press conference. He said, “You can lie at press conferences and they make it a show. For me, I can’t lie to people. I am who I am, they like it, they don’t like it, I am who I am. That guy plays too much.”
